Flexi Lemmix

Flexi Lemmix is basically an extended version of CustLemmix. Whereas CustLemmix is designed for playing small level packs, and recently increasingly simply used together with the NeoLemmix Editor for a playtest mode; Flexi Lemmix is designed for making large packs with multiple ranks.

Flexi Lemmix works by using a file called SYSTEM.DAT with extra data that contains information relating to the pack's contents - for example, how many ranks it contains, how many levels are in each rank. This extra segment can be created by the NeoLemmix Editor.

Flexi Lemmix supports up to 15 difficulty ranks, with up to 255 levels each. As with CustLemmix, some NeoLemmix features that are more relevant to the creator than the player (such as oddtabling) are also supported in Flexi Lemmix.

There are two versions of Flexi Lemmix. The standard version works much like a DOS Lemmings executable, in that it loads files that are in the same folder as it. It can load a MAIN.DAT file, as well as custom graphic sets and VGASPECs, custom music tracks in IT format (or other similar formats), and of course custom levels. There is another version called the "Toolkit version", which comes with the "Flexi Toolkit". This is used to create all-in-one EXEs, much like the custom-made Lemmix players. The standard version is useful both for testing, and for playing custom packs which have not been compiled into a standalone player.

Current version: V29

For tutorials on how to create Flexi packs, please see the Flexi Lemmix Tutorial. Please note that using traditional Lemmix flexi version is much more complicated than NeoLemmix, due to NeoLemmix having a dedicated app for creating packs, whereas most of the work with traditional Lemmix must be done manually.
