CustLemmix
The Lemmix Players collection covers most of the normal Lemmings games
- but there's one thing missing from it. Back in the days where LemEdit
was the only level editor, there was also a little hacked version of
Lemmings known as Customized Lemmings, or simply CustLemm, which was
tailored towards playing custom level packs.
Now, CustLemmix provides a Lemmix player with the same functionality -
and more! Using a Lemmix player that specifically emulates CustLemm's
mechanics, rather than those of Original Lemmings or Oh No! More
Lemmings! (which there are some very slight differences), it allows you
to play all the custom level packs designed for Customized Lemmings.
CustLemmix also adds support for a small selection of NeoLemmix
features that were not supported in standard Lemmix:
- Supports 32-color or full-color graphic sets
- Supports full-color special graphics levels
- Supports graphic sets with more than 64KB each of
terrain and object graphic data
- Supports graphic sets with up to 128 terrain pieces and up to 32 objects
- Specifying which music will play on a level
- NeoLemmix-style oddtabling (creating a level that
copies the layout of a different level, or "repeat levels")
- Integrating with the NeoLemmix Editor to provide a
playtest mode
Additionally, unlike CustLemm which required the user to provide a copy
of any graphic sets they were using, CustLemmix includes most graphic
sets (including special graphics) built directly into the EXE, so
providing a copy of a graphic set is only necessary when using custom
graphic sets, or a different numbering scheme from the standard one.
Another feature is that, whereas CustLemm required you to rename
whatever level pack you wanted to play to LEVELPAK.DAT, CustLemmix
allows you to configure it in the INI file. So, say you have two level
packs - LEVELPACK1.DAT and LEVELPACK2.DAT. Whereas on CustLemm, you
would need to rename the files so that the one you want to play is
called LEVELPAK.DAT, on CustLemmix you can simply edit the
CustLemmix.ini file (created the first time you run the program), and
change LevelPack=LEVELPAK.DAT to whatever name you want - change it to
LevelPack=LEVELPACK1.DAT to run the first one, or
LevelPack=LEVELPACK2.DAT to run the second one. Much less work!
To
make this even easier again, as of V27, you can simply go into the
Config menu (by pressing F4 on the title screen) and choose your
levelpack from there!

Download CustLemmix DOS
Music Pack (place in the same folder as CustLemmix to use DOS
music instead of Amiga)
By default, CustLemmix emulates CustLemm mechanics. However, there is a
Mechanics switch in the INI file that lets you change this - setting it
to 0 uses CustLemm mechanics, 1 uses Original Lemmings mechanics, and 2
uses Oh No! More Lemmings! mechanics. This can also be configured from the config menu.
Do note that CustLemmix still has the same ten-level limit that the
original Customized Lemmings had. One way around this is to use it
together with the NeoLemmix Editor's playtest mode; see the NeoLemmix Editor page
for more information on this.
For reference, the included graphics sets are:

The reason for the gap in numbering is that styles number 15 through 18
are the Lemmings Plus III styles. As these are not compatible with
traditional Lemmix (only with NeoLemmix), they are not included in
CustLemmix; but to keep consistency, the Sega style is numbered 19 in
both.
